Andreas Gursky (*1955) is a well-known German photographer, who is exhibited in numerous museums. His supersize and digitally manipulated photographs regularly receive top prices at auctions. The print '99 Cent II, Diptych' sold in 2007 for USD $3.3 million at Sotheby's, London, which is still the record for highest price paid at auction for a single photographic image.

Simon Høgsberg



Simon Høgsberg is a Danish photographer from Copenhagen. On his website a bunch of amazing projects are displayed, like 'We’re All Gonna Die - 100 Meters of Existence'. "This image is 100 meters long. There are 178 people in the picture, all shot in the course of 20 days from the same spot on a railroad bridge on Warschauer Strasse in Berlin in the summer 2007." (simonhoegsberg.com)



In this interview Simon talks about the title, his his used gear and work proceeding. Simon: "Currently I’m in the process of preparing to exhibit the 100 meter photograph in its full length (100 m x 78 cm) in a public square in Copenhagen in the month of May 2009."

Ester Vonplon: winner of the Swiss Photo Award 2009





Swiss photographer and former skateboarder Ester Vonplon, born 1980 in Switzerland and living in Berlin, is the winner of the Swiss Photo Award 2009. Her grainy and atmospheric black-and-white photographs of a village in Kosovo convinced the jury. An interview with Ester about this Kosovo project is published here. Further prize winners are Jonathan Heyer, Andri Pol, Vanessa Püntener and Roger Eberhard. The exhibition can be seen until May 17th at ewz Selnau in Zürich.

Yesterday the 'vfg Nachwuchsförderpreis' (Swiss award for young photographers) was awarded. Sodagrapher Ueli Alder was one of the nominees, the 2009 winner is Sophie Brasey, born 1985 and just finished ECAL. The exhibition will be shown until May 21th at BINZ39 in Zürich.
